What are Transit Shipments?

Transit shipments are: Let’s say you are shipping to Niger from India by sea. Since Niger is a landlocked country, your shipment must be transited from Benin, that has a shore. That means your shipment is a transit shipment.

Do I need two certificates?

Some countries require a CTN certificate regardless. But some only require it if it’s your cargo’s final destination. You can find the list of countries down below:

  • Niger through Benin: You need a certificate for both of them.
  • Niger through Togo: You need a certificate for both of them.
  • Niger through Ghana: You need a certificate for both of them.
  • Burkina Faso through Ghana: You need a certificate for both of them.
  • Burkina Faso through Togo: You need a certificate for both of them.
  • Burkina Faso through Ivory Coast: You only need an ECTN for Burkina Faso.
  • Mali through Senegal: You only need a BSC for Mali.
  • Central African Republic through Cameroon: You only need an ECTN for Central African Republic.
  • Chad through Cameroon: You only need an ECTN for Chad.
